National World War II Memorial's registry.

Those who can give firsthand accounts of World War II experiences is rapidly dwindling, a Library of Congress program is ensuring not all those memories are lost.

Of the 16 million men and women who served in uniform during World War II, less than 4 million are alive today, according to VA statistics. Those stats also indicate about 1,100 World War II veterans die each day.

The National WWII Memorial registry is "an individual listing of Americans who contributed to the war effort" comprised of the names of those who sign up for the Registry of Remembrances as well as other official lists compiled by the American Battle Monuments Commission and War and Navy Department Killed in Service rosters. Donation of collection materials like interviews and/or memoirs is not a requirement for inclusion in the National World War II Memorial's registry.

Stories can be told through personal narrative, correspondence, and visual materials
